Founded in 1957 Whitley Chapel Badminton club continues to grow and flourish. Based at Queen Elizabeth High School, we aim to be a fun, competitive and successful club.
We play competitive matches in the Northumberland League with two Men’s, two Mixed and one Women’s teams.
Club nights are held at Queen Elizabeth High School, Hexham every Thursday from September to Easter, 7-9pm with a short break for Christmas. Whilst no formal coaching is provided there are a number of senior players willing to offer advice and guidance for those looking to improve their game.
A successful informal junior section has been running for a number of years. From January 2025 this will provide structured coaching for children over 13 lead by qualified coaches from 6-7pm and then general game play 7-8pm.
As well as the competitive matches, club nights provide members with a range of club play. As there is no formal coaching for adults, new members would require a degree of ability, however age (and therefore experience) is no barrier!
Bi-seasonally there are also club tournaments, pairing senior and junior members before a handicap system is applied. Whilst not being compulsory to wear the allocated Santa hat for the Christmas tournament, all members join in the fun and compete for the seasonal prizes!
If you are a current player looking for a club or just looking to return to the sport and would like some more information, please do contact us.
Whitley Chapel Badminton Club looks forward to welcoming you.
